What is the power of the motor on the PiCycle™?

The 2012 PiCycle™'s achieve Best In Class power at 1700W. By comparison, Lance Armstrong on a good day can output about 500 watts.

So you essentially have 3 professional cyclists helping you pedal, which usually leaves full spandex clad cyclists staring in disbelief as you casually pass them.

From a torque perspective, 750 Watts is equal to 1 horsepower. The difference is, unlike an internal combustion engine, electric motors have 100% of the torque out of the gate. Thus, in comparison on torque to internal combustion engines, a 1500 Watt system equates to roughly 6 horsepower. Now with the 2012 PiCycle™ if you want to down limit your power to extend your range or provide a safety factor, it can be easily set in the new programmable controller.
